CFY Strategies

CFY members select strategies that will address the priority needs (risk and protective factors) of our communities.  By targeting priority risk and protective factors with strategies that address specific local conditions, it is possible to create large-scale community change.  Whether the strategy is the implementation of programs that work, changing the environment, or changing the way that services are provided to youth and their families through the adoption of “best practices”, positive youth development and community change is possible.

It is no longer enough to do what we think will work - we must do what science tells us does work.  In developing effective strategies to address youth and community needs, we save time, money and lives.  Effective strategies focus on identifying and solving root causes of problems.  The right strategy, aimed at the right population, at the right time, with enough dosage will produce the desired results
